Pronunciation of apples, dark or light L

I have learned how to pronounce dark L and I was wondering if words with dark L are plural like apples, should we pronounce dark L or should we pronounce light L?

Thank you so much and I know this but "s" is put at the end and then the theory about dark l sound does not fit, does it? Or whether there is "s" or "es" for the plural forms, should we first pronounce dark l in apples, shells, wills, etc and then pronounce s" and "es"?
