Good to know. But I am shocked to hear it! I listen to a lot of British TV imports here, and I don't recall ever hearing it, even on those broadcasts. Then again, maybe the word doesn't come up that often.

That must be it. I checked Collins Concise Dictionary, which is very British, and the shocking pronunciation is the only one it offers!
