pronunciation - discuss - disgust

0A student recently asked me why the "c" in discuss sounds like "g", as in "disgust". I explained it well, and the student understood. However, I would like to know the technical terminology for this sort of English pronunciation phenomenon. Does anyone know a pronunciation or linguistics type word to refer to this sort of thing? 0-

10Hi, 02br
00I was going to say that those are two different sounds, but I checked on Merriam Webster, and it says "disgust" can be pronounced kind of like "discust", with a /k/ sound instead
