Pronounciation of (Leonard) Bernstein

Hi everybody!
How do native speakers of English pronounce the name Bernstein? Does it end like "mine" or like "mean"? Are there differences between England and the US (when it comes to pronouncing this name)?
Thanks for your help!

So, Bernstein said BernSTINE. I agree that that settles the question of how it should be translated.
However, how does the majority of Americans (to stay on that side of the pond) pronounce his name? Do they follow his example? Or are there more followers of the STEEN way?

that didn't help any as "STINE' is also often pronounced as "STEEN". Such as Ernestine, Pauline, etcetera, besides also being often pronounced as "STINE".
However, I did know which way you meant it from other parts of your post.
I think the original poster had the correct idea to describe whether it rhymes with mean or fine.
