Pronounciation

Hello,

As far as I know the 's' is pronounced as 's' when a noun ends in either 'P' 'k' 't' 'f' .

But how should the 's' be pronounced at the end of differen verbs?

For example He plays (z).

He takes (s).

The pronunciation is the same regardless of the part of speech (or word class, if you like that term better). He plays [z ] the piano very well. I have seen both plays [z ].
