Pronoun "that" to refer to adjective

Hi. Please tell me if we can use the pronoun "that" to refer to an adjective like the word "hard" in the example sentence below.

He feels writing it hard and saying it is that, too.

How about using the word "also" instead of "too"?

He feels writing it hard and saying it is also that.

Thank you very much. Let me write another example sentence and please tell me if they are correct. Thank you for your help in advance.

1. He feels spelling the word "idiosyncrasy" is hard and pronouncing it is that, too.
2. He feels spelling the word "idiosyncrasy" is hard and pronouncing it is also that..

No, now they just sound wrong.

1. He feels spelling the word "idiosyncrasy" is hard and pronouncing it is , too.
2. He feels spelling the word "idiosyncrasy" is hard and pronouncing it is, also.

The most natural way to say this, in my opinion, would be "He feels that spelling the word 'idiosyncrasy' is hard and so is pronouncing it."
