Hi everybody, we are 3 students from Swizerland and we are doing a project in English, to analyse different English dialects.
We wrote a text that we would like to put on a CD as listening examples.
We're looking for people, whose native language is English and that speak one of the dialects of the following countries (it would be nice if the dialect was remarkable):
Australia
South-Africa
Irland
Scotland
England
North-America
India
Jamaica
(regional differences are not that important)
It would be good if you could send the audio-file to this email:
(While this seems to be an interesting and worthwhile project, email information cannot be given in a post. If you register, you may list it in your personal profile. Good luck.)3 Sentences
- Hi everybody, my name is
___________(Your name) and I come from ____________ (Your home-country)
- I like to do sports, to drive around in my car, to go to the cinema and to sleep in on Sunday mornings
- My native language is English. English is spoken all over the world, so it is a very important language.
Text
Mr. Anderson is planning to go on a trip around the world. From Zurich airport he takes a plane to London Heathrow, where he’s going to stay with his friend John Smith for a week. After this week in England, he takes a ferry to Dublin and then by plane to Glasgow. After having bought a kilt in Scotland, he’s going to fly to Los Angeles.
There he decided to visit Jamaica, but because of the hurricane season he didn’t stay long and continued his trip to Sidney. After a few days of sight-seeing he took a plane to Mumbai. During his stay he met a lot of native people and explored their exotic country.
Unfortunately it was high time he went home and restarted working. His English had improved a lot and that made him happy.
Thanks in advance
