Progressive aspect

Is it ok to use the progressive aspect to describe the plot of a novel or series? E.g. „The couple are investigating criminal cases in a beautiful seaside resort“ - or should it be „the couple investigate“.

(I know that the punctuation Is wrong, but I can‘t find the correct button on my mobile)

There is no definitive answer to your problem. It depends upon the tone and style of your exegesis. It is more important to be consistent.
