progressing or progress?

Hello everyone
may I use ing form to start this sentence?

"progressing in most translator tools has been increasing day by day "

"progressing" seems not to make sense. I am not sure that the sentence is very clear with "progress" either. Do you mean that translator tools are steadily developing/improving?
