Can you please specify which statement is correct?

Can you please explain the grammar rule which decides the preposition in this context?

Glass Alignement is an operation for aligning glasses (to make the edges of a rectangual glass in parallel to the edges of a calibrated glass)used for creating solar cells.

"progress on..." seems to be the correct collocation to me. That's mu opinion.

I agree that an article is needed, then: 'the glass alignment'. I think I would say 'with', but I see nothing 'wrong' with 'in' or 'on'.
