Produced to fit against floorboards

I don't understand the bold part. Can someone explain it to me? Thanks.
"Doc threw sponges, swabs and gloves into a plastic bucket produced to fit against floorboards and serve as a wastebasket for cars. Hey, he lived in a garage, right? Lived on an island, he'd use coconut shells. No problem."

The term "floorboards" dates back to the days of the Model T and Model A Ford. As I recall, they were wooden. Of course they were the "boards" on which the driver and passengers rested their feet.

  • But at that time they didn't have plastics, so your bold phrase seems like a bit of an anachronism.
  • "Produced" here would mean "designed" to fit against floorboards.
