Problems with ICSE questions.

Change as Directed:

1. Inspite of his excellent debate, he could not win the prize. (Use: although)

My ans. Although he presented an excellent debate yet he could not win the prize.

2. He failed though he was clever. (Begin with : clever)

My ans. Clever, though he may be, he failed.

Fill in with prepositins:

1. He was let off _________ a fine.

My ans: with

2. Cholera has broken _______ in the village.

My ans: out

3. They drove him __________ the city in their new car.

My ans. around

1. I'm not sure if you "present a debate." You may, your sentence then would be fine. But I would say "Although he was excellent in the debate, he..."

2. Very close - no first comma: Clever though he may be, he failed.
