problem with tenses

Per practice test, http://englishpage.com/verbpage/verbs3.htm, one of the answers caught my attention, it said,

"I was watching a mystery movie on TV when the electricity went out. Now I am never going to find out how the movie ends."

Should it have written, "I was watching a mystery movie on TV when the electricity went out. Now I am never going to find out how the movie ended"?

Something doesn't make sense to me. The speaker was talking about an incident that happened in the past, so the person should have kept the following sentence in past tense too? The movie WAS missed, therefore the ending WAS missed too.

Also, can someone please post a good link that will help me with tenses. I've come across many mediocre pages, and the only one I've liked so far is Englishpage.com. I am still struggling and would to continue practicing. I really want to improve.

Many thanks in advance.
