Problem with tense when I study may/might

The example:

A: I wonder why David was in such a bad mood yesterday.

B: He may not have been feeling well.

I don't understand why they use "been V-ing" but "may not have felt". Is there any different meaning between them. Please explain to me. I'm confused how and when to use these tense correctly. Thanks a lot.
