Problem of choosing the right word

Is it correct to say,

"I'm happy to see the sun again after such a long stretch of foggy day"?

If not, could anyone help to suggest the other words that can be used to express this meaning?

Thanks!

It's OK, but I think I would do this: I'm happy to see the sun again after so much fog / after such a long, foggy day.
