Problem: Need an explanation...

Dear everyone,

I made a problem that doesn't show correctly sentence and I need to know how to determine this specific error in order to find "Why?" by your help. Thanks.

Error: What a technology! - I thought this can add 'a' on the left side of 'technology,' because of this word represents singular without plural. Addition, I thought this could be rhetoric...

Hello 52111 I am not sure about what you are asking exactly. But talking about the word 'technology', it typically refers to 'industrial arts' collectively. But it is used also to refer to a particular industrial art.

On the bottom line, the error you see is right below this sentence and I'm asking your help to explain me.

Error: What a technology!

My question: Is this right usage or what? Like I said I thought this could be rhetoric, because I want to say this as interjection.

I would exclaim like "What a wonderful technology!".

It's extremely unusual to say "a technology" but I'm not sure why!

In english it is seldom used that way. There's usually an adjective or other separator between the two words.

A good technology.
A new technology.
A kind of technology.

but: A technology which/that.. is OK.

In contrast, the definite article is OK.

Hi guys,

It would be OK to exclaim 'What a technology!' Typically, it would be in a context where you are saying it is bad or good in some way.

We also tend to use the word 'technology' a little loosely.

This stupid computer hasn't worked correctly since the day I bought it! What a technology!

So you're telling me this usage is correct? Because, some of others who disagree with this. Now, tell me how should I pick the right path? I'm just want to confirm that, so I will have sufficient proof. Thanks.

Hi,

So you're telling me this usage is correct? Yes, but only in the right context, as I said.

Now, tell me how should I pick the right path? ...... so I will have sufficient proof. I gave you an explanation and examples. Can you tell me what else you think you need?

Best wishes, Clive

What else do I think that I need? Well, I'm not sure what to think. Because, I'm only still learning the English rules that doesn't make me to understand in completely. Unless, I understand it. But, I think that I'm agree with you in assumption.
