Problem in pronuncing the word with "r" and "l"

I used to have problems in pronuncing the words that have the 'r' or 'l' sound like 'rain' and 'lane'. Is there any ways to overcome it?Emotion: smile

Well, Lim, you say you used to have the problem-- how did you overcome it? I teach it by having my students stick their pens into their mouths to depress their tongues while saying /r/, but that may not work for non-Japanese learners of English.

oh the problem has to overcome by practising your tongue always! There is a time where i asked a cousin of my to do it with lifting up the tongue when make the sound 'r' and letting down the tongue in the mouth for the sound of 'l' . Although it is not really succesfully by solving out the problem but it does help sometimes.

i wonder if u can try to be familiar with the sound ot the alphaphet 'r' and 'l' first before going further into the word 'rain'and 'lain'. This is because u must already know the difference first before going to further in aquiring the whole word.

Hello! I think it needs time to pronounce those words correctly. I face the same problem too! But this is a part of our identity right! SOmehow, i do managed to improve on pronuncing some words like 'drain' . It need a lot of conscious effort... Take it easy !
