I can't ......... give up drinking tea, doctor.

B, "possibly".

If someone says "I can't possibly give up drinking tea, doctor", it is not possible, i.e. they are saying they cannot stop drinking tea. (This is probably an exaggeration, meaning they do not want to.)

Note - "I probably can't give up drinking tea" would also make sense, meaning they doubt they can stop drinking tea. However, the word order means B is correct. For

Thanks for the thorough explanation..sorry to but in ...wondered if there is actually a rule for having a word such as "probably" in sentence..as in there is order which must be followd? like it has to come right after the subject?

Adverbs in general have several places they can go (and some they cannot), and these choices are different for different sorts of adverbs...so no rules, just guidelines. 'Cannot
