pro rata payment

Pro rata payment

Which word is correct? depending on according to or based on? How would I have to say this?

I get unemployment, but I work a few hours a month doing this and that. The government pays me unemployment according to - depending on - based on the money I bring in. If I make more money, I get less benefits that month.

Top answer

Anonymous The government pays me unemployment according to - depending on - based on the money I bring in. "Based on" is most appropriate in this context. There well may be other factors which go into the calculation determining your actual check, but you have explained that in your text.

  • That is, it's not based solely on the money you bring in.
  • If you were to make a flat statement, "The government pays me unemployment based on the money I bring in," that would be very misleading, especially where the "money you bring in" has a negative effect on your check.
