Hi,

We had dinner at Black Angus last night. Some of us ordered prime ribs. They tasted like pork rather than beef.

Can someone confirm?

To me, prime rib is a generic term. It can be either prime rib of beef or pork. Correct? Unfortunately, the restaurant doesn't specify it in their dinner menu. Here is their website:

We ordered prime rib. (not prime ribs!)
It's beef, beef, beef, beef, beef!!! Always. Period.

Hi,

I just called the restaurant and got their confirmation. True. Prime rib is beef.

Can prime rib be callled white meat? It looked white when we had it. (comparing to regular steak)

Per CJ, prime rib is uncountable. I assume that (beef) steak can be called red meat and uncountable.

Is it OK to say, "we ordered 3 entrees of prime rib/steak" or "we ordered 3

Steaks are perfectly countable but you wouldn't put the plural in twice, so 3 plates of steak or 3 steaks.

Beef is always red meat.

I also wonder if there is a bit of confusion here about what you ordered.

Was it a steak or did it have bones in it (a rack of ribs).

Prime Rib or Rib-eye is a type of beef steak but it would be the normal colour.

You say your order was for Prime Ribs - Ribs themselves are pork (and hence the meat looks quite pale) - can you imagine the size of a cow's ribcage! At least

Ribs can also be lamb, can't they?

I've never heard of anyone eating lamb ribs...

I suppose all mammals have ribs so if you wanted to, you could eat dormouse ribs.

The lambs' ribs must get used for something....oh yeah - is that breast of lamb?
