Primal roar

Zaheer to Gilchrist, out Bowled!! Why could Zaheer not do this in the 2003 WC final? Why now?, fast, furious, searing delivery, speared in, beautiful seam position as well, it scooted fast and under Gilchrist's bat as he went for the hoick, it rattled in to middle, death knell for Gilchrist and Zaheer yells out a primal roar, superb delivery to get the danger man!

Please explain to me what "primal roar" means here.

I know roar is a sound made by Lion so figuratively it means he yelled like a Lion, but have no idea what they mean by "primal roar"

A "roar" is any loud vocalised sound, like a scream but lower pitched. A lion is one creature that can roar, but when the word is applied to people there isn't necessarily any specific connection with lions intended. "primal" means originating from some basic or primitive emotion or instinct.
