Pride

Could you tell me which one is right and the most common among the following sentences?
Thank you.

A. She had to keep her pride.
B .She had to maintain her pride.
C. She had to salvage her pride.

Top answer

They have different meanings. Only C is a reasonably common collocation, to my mind, and its meaning is closer to 'rescue' than it is to 'keep/maintain'.

How about "She refused the proposal to save her pride"? Does it sound common and natural?

Yes, that seems unremarkable.
