Prices, fares, costs and bills

Is it true that it is wrong to say, "The price/fare/cost/bill is expensive/cheap"

But it should be

"The price/fare/cost/bill is high/low"

instead?

Thank you

I would use high/low with these. You might say that the meals/tickets/items themselves are cheap/expensive.

Hello,

Yes, the correct usage would be that the price, cost, etc, is high or low. If you are talking about the item directly, however, you can say that it is expensive or cheap (although I would suggest using the word inexpensive, as 'cheap' is somewhat of a slang term). So for instance you might say that the hotel stay was expensive, so the overall cost of the vacation was high.
