Previously

Hi, my friends,

I have a question about the usage of "previously" in the following sentence.

- These kids made lots of noise previously when I needed concentration.

Are you happy with this usage of "previously"? To me, it sounds awkward. I would use "earlier" instead. I would also reword the sentence as follows:

Previously, these kids made a lot of noise when I needed to concentrate.

What do you think>

Thank you. :-)

Are you happy with this usage of "previously"? No, I'm not happy about it, nor about 'needed concentration'. Although there are many other ways to write it, I think I might recast it thus: Earlier — when I needed to concentrate — the kids had been making a lot of noise.
