...preventing its use on their college edition was overturned on appeal.

What does the following sentence mean? Isn't it using double-negatives?

Top answer

No double negative; just a lot of legal maneuvers. 1-- MW got an injunction at court to prevent Random House from using the name 'Webster's'. 2-- Random House appealed to a higher court against the injunction; that court overturned the previous ruling.
