Prevent from

1. Chinese artist Ai Weiwei says he has been placed under house arrest to prevent him holding a party to mark the destruction of his Shanghai studio.

2. "I'm under house arrest to prevent me from going to Shanghai. You can never really argue with this government," Mr Ai told the Associated Press by telephone.

Both are taken from BBC online news.

A. In the sentence 1. preposition "from" is omitted, while in the sentence 2. it has been duly placed. Would any one please tell me why it is so?

B. Would it be wrong if I add "from" after "him" in the first sentence?

C. Would it be wrong if I delete "from" in the second sentence?
