Prevent and help prevent

1] Regular training at the gym prevent getting diseases like high-blood pressure and diabetes.

2] Regular training at the gym help prevent getting diseases like high-blood pressure and diabetes.

I have seen people write 'help prevent' instead of just 'prevent'.

Does it make a difference?

[ By the way, I have trained for about 100 minutes today at the gym.]

I don't eat rotten food.

Good food prevent getting stomach disorders.

I wouldn't write 'Good food help prevent getting stomach disorders.

I guess in the first sentence, the likelyhood is lesse.
