Pretensions and affectations

HI

Would you say that the red parts are natural English? Any suggestions are welcome.

A- You don't believe that they're good friends?

B- No, not at all.

A - And why is that?

B - Because, to me, any good friendship is free from pretensions and affectations. That's not the case with Kate and Amy. They're rather uneasy with each other and something called trust is totally missing between them. Besides...

A - You mean to say that all that apparent care and warmth is artificial.

B- Yes, absolutely.

Thanks,

Tom

Mr. Tom Would you say that the red parts are natural English? They are in a higher register than I am used to hearing, but they are not unnatural.
