Vocabulary

Pressing iron / steam iron / steam press

Hi teachers,

I like to know how would you describe an iron which you do not have to lay your clothing flat on the pressing board / iron board. It comes with a tank which you fill up and heat the water as steam. The appearance looks very much like vacuum with a tube.

Thank you.

Hi Grammar Greek,

Thank you for answering my question.

1. Is it an iron board or pressing board? (where you lay your clothing down.)

2. If you use the steamer, the shirt you just ironed should be a bit wet from it. Is "let it breeze" a natural phrase?

Thanks again

Ironing board.

Mine makes a horrible noise every time I set it up. I should probably do it more than twice a year. Emotion: smile

Hi Grammar Greek,

It's good I learned another word "garments". Thank you so much.

Have a great day.

Hi Grammar Greek,

I'm sorry is it "breathe" possible in this situation when you steam your garments. The dictionary says: A natural fabric that breathes. Would "let it breathe until it is dry" natural?

Thank you.

Not really. When fabric "breathes" it means that it keeps the person wearing it cooler by not trapping moisture against the body. You don't hang it alone to breathe -- you wear it and appreciate that it breathes.
