Press in ?

Hi, I just read this article below and I came to have a question:

Major news events really do press in at every turn, and the pace - yes, absolutely breakneck lately.

Can you tell me what "press in" means in the article? (as far as I understand, "do" in front of "press in" emphasizes a following verb.)
