Preserve VS Maintain

Dear Native English speaker OR English teacher,
Could you tell me what is the difference between the above two words in English and if there is a difference in meaning in the following sentences:
You need to follow and solve every problem you face at your work to preserve your job.
Facing problems is the best way to maintain your stability and continuation in your company.
