Preserve and conserve
Please help me with below questions.

The difference between "preserve" and "conserve".
I believe they basically mean "to keep", but if I point the difference out...
"preserve" is "to protect from some kind of damage, such as decay", and "conserve" is "to save something not to lose or waste, especially for the future".

A volley ball game starts from "a serve", and a player on the other side will do "reception"...
Am I correct? In Japan, we call the first shot "serve", and the action to receive the ball "receive (not reception)".

1--Sounds good to me, generally. 2-- 'A serve', 'he serves', 'a service' and 'they receive' and 'reception' ( though I admit that the latter noun is not so often used).
