If 'The water is gone' is correct then why not ' water is come'

Mister McCawber is correct..

"He is come" and "he is gone" used both to be correct as with many verbs of motion. In the Bible (year 1615) "Jesus is come to save the world". Only "is gone" survives and the word "gone" is used as an adjective :-(
