Presentation

Hello there.

I have two weeks to make a presentation. The topic I have to write about is learning and teaching a second language.

I have no idea where to start. I can not sort out the most important information that should be found in my presentation. I think I have found enough information, I just want to know if all of them are needed or maybe you have better ideas.
I thought it would be good to write about all the methods of teaching foreign languages (e.g.cognitive, TPR, The Silent Way, CLL, The Natural Approach, Callan's method etc.), I don't know if its a good idea cause my presentation has to last only 10-15 minutes and I don't want my listeners to fall asleep Emotion: smile. I also thought that learning via the Internet, conversations with native speakers, watching movies, reading books are worth mentioning.
I really need help so feel free to share your opinion. Thank you in advance.

I think that going through all those methods is far too much material. I suggest that you concentrate on the modern general concepts of language learning and teaching that are common to most or all of the currently accepted methods: task-based communicative language acquisition. You can mention movies, books, etc, as examples, but you should focus on making clear the reasons why those techniques are considered effective (or not).

I think it is depend on your listener. As I am not on these field, I have no idea what are those methods and how they work. So, of course, it is good to mention those but not too long! If I am some one trying to learn second language, i would prefer knowing what is the best way to learn it not the method itself.

Hope this help and good luck!

can you tell me what you mean by modern general concepts of language learning and teaching? language exercises, grammar, writing?-- No, those are not concepts, they are a mixture of unrelated terms. I don't think you are quite ready to discuss language learning and teaching.

You shouldn't list methods and techniques; examine the problem at a higher level. What are the curr
