Present Tense VS Present Progressive

Could you tell me why 'stimulate' cannot be acceptable?
I think both of them are okay, but my textbook tells only 'stimulating' is fine.

A: I'm attending that lecture series I was telling you about at 7:00 tonight.
B: It must stimulate/be stimulating because you are always brighter afterwards.

Top answer

It must be stimulating, interesting, boring - these are all correct forms, the present participle used as an adjective. Stimulate, interest & bore all need an object (me, for example).
