Present tense instead of past tense.

here is the thing:

Jacob kissed Nelly to show his love towards her.

in a conversation:

Nelly: Jacob kisses me to prove his love, Im so excited!

Katy: Wow, that's a great starting! Great job! Emotion: smile

my question is, why Nelly said kisses instead of kissed ? The action has been already happened right?

In spite of Anon's valid explanation, 'kisses' (present) seems wrong here. Since the dialogue has other errors, this may be an error, too.
