Present tense confusion

Hi Everybody,
Suppose one person is saying to another: It wouldn't be appropriate if you (attended or attend) this function.
Which is right here - attend or attended? To me, both seem right in present tense dialogue.

'Attended' is the grammatically correct completion of the Conditional II sentence: 'I wouldn't be...if you attended'. However, the mixed conditional with the possible future outcome 'attend' is also widely accepted.
