Present Simple or Present Continues / using of 'have' in particular context

Hey guys

Please help me to understand what form should be used in this sentence.

They always have breakfast / They 're always having... breakfast in bed on Sunday morning. ??

I would rather use the form of PC because of the particular meaning of' 'have' in this context (as dynamic verb which means to eat) but on the other hand, there is adverbial of time ' always' which is related to PS so it's some kind of routine. So what do you think, what's the proper form?

Thank you for the answers.

For a plain statement about their habits, use present simple. Probably this is what you want. Some people might prefer the plural: "They always have breakfast in bed on Sunday morning s ".

  • Present continuous is also possible, but needs specific context to justify it.
  • Especially, the present continuous might be used if some other activity happens or is proposed to happen at the same time.
