Present Progressive...I think

Dear Community,

what would you suppose is the right way to say the following sentence:

"Globalisation is being discussed controversially today"

"Globalisation is discussed controversially today"

I thought that "is discussed" tends to be more "done" while "is being discussed" is and will be an ongoing process. The more I think about it the less I make sense of it.

I don't find either of those statements natural. I suggest eg Globalization is a controversial topic today.

NDelventhalGlobalisation is being discussed controversially today.

This sounds like a description of what is going to happen in a classroom, as told by the teacher at the beginning of class.

NDelventhalGlobalisation is discussed controversially today nowadays.
