You're always pulling a fast one on me.

If the red words are replaced as "always pull" and the whole sentence turns into "You always pull a fast one on me.", do any change of meaning or nuance occur? Thanks in advance!

To me, the red words are more colloquial and also add more emphasis to the repetition of the action.
