Present perfext - have

It thiis sentence correct.

a) I've had a lovely girlfriend for two weeks.

Doesn't it sound as if the relationship were already over? Do I have to say:

b) I've had a lovely girlfriend for two weeks now.

You would need the past tense to indicate that the relationship is over: I had a lovely girlfriend for two weeks [last month]. CB

Both of yours are fine, if the relationship still exists at the moment of speaking. As CB said, you need the past perfect if the relationship has ended at the moment of speaking.
