Present perfect with the past simple

Let's say you were some sort of entertainer (a youtuber, for example) and your fans keep asking for something and you decide to do it.

You: A lot of people HAVE BEEN asking for this type of video, so I sat down yesterday and decided to make it.

Is the capitalized part correct? I used the present perfect because at the moment of speaking people are still asking for that video.
