Present Perfect vs Simple Past

Hi,

Just wondering which one is correct? I think I should use simple past when the time is given. Is that correct?

I have already requested the official transcript from XXX University on March 10 and they should arrive shortly.

I requested the official transcript from XXX University on March 10 and they should arrive shortly. (What if I want to add "already" to this one?)

Thanks.
