Hi,

Are both of the following correct? yes.

1.'My mother has taught me how to play the piano, but I can't do it well yet'. This suggests she has finished teaching you, and that you can play (although not well).

2.'My mother has been teaching me how to play the piano, but I can't do it well yet.'
