Present perfect tenses in questions and answers

Hi. Please help me with these present perfect tense use cases.

For this, let us pretend a person has made a very short hom-made movie and decided to show it to one of his friends, who happened to be an English learner. He also decides to test his comprehension skills.

Hypothetical expired scene: A person has two jobs at the present time: during day time, he goes to school (if you could it a job) and a second job, delivering ice to apartments nearby after school. He has not done his homework the previous night and does it early in the morning, before breakfast, and goes to school. After school, he takes a block of ice to deliver it to a person living on the seventh floor of a tall apartment some time away from where he picks up ice everyday. When he reaches the apartment building, he finds the elevator not working. He decides to carry it through stairs. When he finally reaches the apartment, he finds the ice half-melted.

Which of these answers correct? For the answer for the second question, I feel the use of present perfect isn't necessary, if it isn't incorrect.

When did he do his homework?

before eating his breakfast

Or

before he has eaten his breakfast

When he reached the apartment he is supposed to deliver the ice, what happened to the ice?

It half-melted

Or

It has half-melted

Top answer
