Present Perfect Tense Question

AlpheccaStars, thank you. I use the present perfect tense at 9:30pm because I point out the result (the dishes are clean, Mary doesn't need to wash the dishes.) Suppose that the dishes are dirty, Mary needs to wash them, I would use past tense now.
