Thanks! So if I'm sure the day it was yesterday.

Then I HAVE TO use" I promisED him that I would take his family to my house yesterday."?

And about " have promised" the action must happen in the RECENT time?

but "yesterday" doesn't equal "recently"?

Thanks! So if I'm sure the day it was yesterday. Then I HAVE TO use" I promisED him that I would take his family to my house yesterday."?-- Do not confuse grammar with real life. It makes no difference if 'you are sure it was yesterday', but if a definite past time is mentioned in the context or sentence, then you should not use present perfect.

And about " have promised"
