Present Perfect Tense and Past

In my understanding, "Have you ever been to Japan last year?" is grammatically wrong, because I am using the present perfect tense to ask about a matter that happened in the past.

"Have you ever had a pet when you were young?" seems to be grammatically wrong.

Can I say, "Did you ever had a ped when you were young?" instead?

No, but you can say: Did you [ever] have a pet when you were young?

Well, yes, but it's also wrong because "ever" (at any time) and "last year" are contradictory.

It's like asking if you went to Japan yesterday last month.
