Present perfect tense

Dear all,

I want to say that i work (in the past and now) at the same time when i study (in the past and now) - i mean that i started working in 2010 and studying at 2010. Im not sure which tense i should use. Is the phrase correct:

i have gained experience while studying at... (the rest of sentence says about the consequences of this) If not, how i should write it?
