Present perfect tense

Hi.

Colour therapy is said to have originated many years ago in ancient India and is till used by colour therapists such as Julia Kubler, who uses it to treat patients with various health issues.

As far as I know, present perfect tense can't be used with definite time expressions. Would you please explain to me how have originated and many years ago have come together in the above sentence?

There is no simple past infinitive in English, only a perfect infinitive, which has to serve for all past-time situations. So, while we would say "colour therapy originated many years ago", when we need the past infinitive form it becomes "to have originated".
